This is a fascinating story that I’d missed entirely up to this point, about Europe’s largest heroin shipment and the ongoing, deadly fallout from its discovery.

Addendum : a story about cocaine from a smuggling ship washing up on shore and seriously impacting the lives of the people who found it.

Power, money, murder, drugs, corruption, politics ...seems like the only missing ingredient is sex.

I’ll admit I ended up skimming the last third or so, because my attention span isn’t what it used to be, but fascinating nonetheless.

Just imagine how many people that stuff would have killed once it hit the streets, and all hidden in a innocuous looking rusty tub from the 1960s.
Probably premature for a movie, since the effects are still playing out, but would like to see a documentary series or something

Scary stuff, I had to deal with a relative ODing on that over Labor Day, he was clean for like 6 years, but apparently decided to start using again when he was laid off during COVID and did a pretty decent job concealing it. Fentanyl wasn’t really around the last time he used, so I suppose that was a rude introduction. Never had to administer NARCAN before, but, damn, that stuff really works. Found out he had h ad another incident a few months earlier, but his roommate found him and called 911.

That was an insane read!! It reads like an Alistair MacLean novel...
